
Wet design cables: dynamic HV cable with new aluminium alloy conductor (SP2): This subproject will realise the next generation lead-free wet design 66 kV AC inter-array subsea cable employing a new aluminium alloy as conductor material for both dynamic and static applications.
The subproject is led by Nexans, who will develop and produce a 66 kV AC wet design cable employing a new aluminium alloy. SINTEF Energi will perform ageing, testing, analysis and characterisation.

Expected results
- Reduced inter-array cable production and installation costs
- Extend footprint of aluminium to dynamic cable products
- Verify wet design for static and dynamic > 33 kV cables without metallic water barrier
- Service relevant understanding of aging induced by aluminium corrosion and design-life estimate
